The Ciudad Mitad del Mundo which translates to ‘Middle of the World City’ and otherwise known as the ‘Equator’ is located at San Antonio parish of the canton of Quito, 26km North of Quito. Here you can straddle the hemispheres at the Monument to the Equator, which sits on the exact location of the Equator, from which Ecuador gets its name as well as explore the Museo Etnográfico Mitad del Mundo, Ethnographic Museum Middle of the Earth, a museum about the indigenous people ethnography of Ecuador.
